VLDB is coming to Trento! Profs. Themis Palpanas and Yannis Velegrakis are
the General Chairs for VLDB 2013, which will be organized in
the area of Trento. The dbTrento group has an open postdoc

I am currently a member of faculty in the Information Engineering and Computer
Science Department (DISI), at the University
of
Trento. I am co-director of dbTrento,
the
Databases
and
Information Management Group of DISI. Before joining the University of Trento, I worked at the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center,
and at the University of California at
Riverside. I have also held visiting researcher positions at the National University of Singapore, Microsoft Research, and the
IBM Almaden Research Center. I am a founding member of the Event
Processing
Technical
Society, and have been a member of
the IBM Academy of Technology
Study on Event Processing. I serve on the
editorial boards and program committees of several international
journals and conferences in the areas of data management and data
mining. I have received two Best Paper awards in international
conferences (ICDE 2010, ADAPTIVE 2009), and authored five US Patents,
three of which are part of commercial systems. I received my BSc degree from the National Technical
University of Athens, Greece, and then received
a MSc and a PhD degree from the University
of
Toronto, Canada. Trivium: my Erdos Number is 3.
