ArtGente (ART testbed agent)

ArtGente evil logo
ArtGente is a software for the Agent Reputation and Trust (ART) Testbed competition.
The tesbed and competition is about several software "appratisal agents" competing in a simulated games. The idea is to create a objective, "standard", well-defined, "life-like" environment to compare different reputation and trust strategies.

ArtGente agent was written for 2007 competition, and performed better than expected -- after preliminary rounds, it got sixth place, out of 16 participating agents. Unfortunately, only the first five agents entered the final. Still, this is a good result, considering that ArtGente was developed in a very short time.

If you are going to look at the source code (Java, see below), or even re-use it, I should apologize for its quality. Surely, some parts should be re-written in a better/clearer way, and commenting is insufficient. The sources are posted here "as is", without any specific preparation. At the moment, I do not consider further development of ArtGente.
The source code is available under UNITN Shared Source Licence, in parts where it does not confront the licence of CheatingAgent written by K.Fullam and of the ART framework in genereal. ArtGente is based on the CheatingAgent, but I did not see a clear reference to its licence. On the one hand, ART testbed site says "We are currently in the process of deciding this.", and on the other, SourceForge page says "GNU Library or Lesser General Public License (LGPL)". If the later is true, seems like SSL is not applicable to ArtGente. If you need to clarify the issue, please, contact me.
