Short Professional Bio

Research: Topics I worked on include: distributed and peer-to-peer information management systems, knowledge management systems, ontologies and reasoning about them, natural language processing, semantic search, personalized speech recognition, life logging systems, and semantic social networks. I co-authored about 30 papers on these, as well as on other related topics. The scientific impact of the publications in terms of the H-index is currently 15[1].

Technical Experience: I have more than ten years of programming experience mainly in Java. Technologies, systems, and frameworks I worked with include: Spring (Core, MVC), Hibernate, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Lucene, Hibernate Search, Apache Tomcat, Android SDK, and Maven. I have many years of system architecture design experience with systems that integrate diverse but related technologies and components.

Project Management Experience: I have many years of experience in planning, organizing and managing the work of groups of international researchers and developers (up to 35 people) given the particularities of R&D environments. I also have project management experience with EC and industrial projects focused on open data, smart city, energy, and education sectors.

International Experience: After many years of working in a multi-cultural group, I gained unique experience of leveraging the cultural and professional strengths and diversities of its members in order to reach common goals. Apart from this, I worked, had training experience, and participated in many international events in different places around the world.
