Research interests

I'm a third-year Ph.D. Student at the Dept. of Information Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Trento, and my advisor is Prof. Fabrizio Granelli. Currently, I am a visiting researcher at the Centre for Telecomunication Research at King's College London, UK, where I work on cognitive and green communications under the supervision of Dr. Oliver Holland. In 2009-10 I visited the Institute of Computing at the State University of Campinas (Unicamp), SP, Brazil, under the supervision of Prof. Nelson L. S. da Fonseca.

My research interests are mainly focused on networking, including design, modeling, and performance evaluation of telecommunication networks, with special attention to intelligent and adaptive networks.

Source code

  • The environment used as a playground for the test of Fuzzy Cognitive Maps was created in ns-3, slightly modified to allow for the use of some particular features I deemed fundamental (joint use of RTS/CTS and fragmentation, TCP-Reno, ...). You can find the repository by following the link. The cognitive engine has been written in Python, and was conceived to be used offline.

  • A simple "genetic library" (in Python) that can come in handy when you want to optimize non-convex functions. Here's a sample main.
