The SmartCampus project aims to develop and evaluate innovative IT
platforms and services which will support all people in their everyday life and the operations of
those institutions involved in a research campus. </fs>

<fs 1.2em>
These services cover a wide range of needs:
from functional requirements of students and researchers in terms of education or transportation, to
hedonic needs related to social cohesion, well-being and spirituality. The services will be integrated
within mobile and web-based technology. </fs>

<fs 1.2em>
Our ultimate goal is to offer services to individuals while
fostering a lively and self-supporting community (both on- and off-line), which can autonomously
evolve through End-User Development of new services.</fs>

<fs 1.2em>
The approach includes participatory design, user research iterating evaluations at different stage ending in a large-scale field study analysing mobile and web-based behaviour
of students and researchers in the campus. The project is grounded on the vision of Trentino as a
large living territorial laboratory.</fs>
