I am a researcher at the University of Trento, collaborating with prof. Renato Lo Cigno.
My main research interest concerns peer-to-peer networks. I am currently working on P2P streaming systems, and measuring their performances. I am using an application developed in the NAPA-WiNe research project to provide a uniform platform whose components allow, among the other things, switching between a tree-based mechanism and a mesh-based one, or anything in between. I am performing the measurements on PlanetLab.
I am also interested in the problem of security in incentive-based P2P systems, especially the collusion among malicious agents to subvert the system or gain unfair advantages.
In February 2010 I visited the Laboratory for Advanced Systems Research (LASR) in the Department of Computer Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin. I have been responsible for designing and starting the Java-to-C porting of a library for Byzantine fault tolerance in Distributed Systems. My host was prof. Lorenzo Alvisi.
I embrace the free software philosophy and love to program, mainly in C and Perl.
On the right, there are some links related to my other interests. I follow a personal mission statement: I put a copy here for those who may be interested.
