Umut Avci earned his Masters Degree in Statistics from Ege University, Turkey, in 2006. Afterwards, he received his second Masters Degree in
Smart Systems from University of Abertay Dundee, UK, in 2009. At the moment he is a PhD student in the
LION lab (DISI laboratory for machine learning and intelligent optimization).

His research interests mainly focus on intelligent solution approaches to combinatorial optimization problems, especially with machine learning techniques.
