Project details

Project astract Knowledge Web is a FP6 Network of Excellence that aims to support the transition of Ontology technology from Academia to Industry.<br/><br/>The current consortium consists of 18 participants including leading partners in Semantic Web, Multimedia, Human Language Technology, Workflow and Agents.<br/><br/>The NoE will concentrate its efforts around the outreach of this technology to industry. Naturally, this includes education and research efforts to ensure the durability of impact and support of industry.<br/><br/>Expected results:<br/>- Ontology language, tool, and method set that cover all the major tasks in working with ontologies; <br/>- Standards to solve the interoperability problem; <br/>- Creation of an Ontology Outreach Authority (OOA); <br/>- Establish a Virtual Institute for Semantic Web Education (VISWE); <br/>- Provide up to date learning materials, curricula and, ultimately, new degree programmes; <br/>- Dissemination of research results through <br/>publications and norms; <br/>- Lectures; <br/>- Industry seminars and tutorials; <br/>- KnowledgeWeb semantic portal. <br/>
