Project details

Project astract The aim of the project DIPLODOC is to define, specify and develop a system architecture based on a distributed sensor platform hosted by vehicles connected to a remote Main Centre, with main purpose of improving safety and comfort of the drivers.
The platform will integrate a distributed speech recognition system, image processing technologies and a telematics module for enabling the driver to communicate with remote services and control on vehicle devices through distributed and local speech recognition, detecting possibly hazardous situations (such as pedestrian crossing or moving obstacle detection) to support human drivers (VADA system) through image analysis of the scenario and collecting and transmit data for improved traffic information service.
DISI Sub-project details

Project astract The project aims at studying, designing and developing advanced technologies for the elaboration and transmission of audio/video signals. These technologies will provide the foundations for a system simulating an artificial being endowed with centralized intelligence and memory supported by a distributed reactive capability through multiple sensors located in several autonomous mobile units in a symbiotic relationship.

The distributed reactive capability entails a multi-sensorial perception of the local environment and the ability to react to some environmental or driver behaviour variations. The environment is considered in its physical and cognitive sense, thus requiring a local interpretative capability supplementing the perceptive one.

Most of the information about the environment, collected and pre-processed by the sensors on the moving platforms, are sent to the central unit where they are more thoughtfully elaborated and incorporated in the global environment knowledge of the artificial being. The guest organisms take advantage from this strategy, because they can access to the global information of the system.
