The paper "What Does Model-driven Data Acquisition Really Achieve in Wireless Sensor Networks?" by the joint FBK-UNITN team composed by U. Raza, A. Camerra, A.L. Murphy, T. Palpanas, and G.P. Picco received the prestigious "Mark Weiser Award" as the Best Paper at the 10th IEEE International Conference on Pervasive Computing and Communication (PerCom 2012), a flagship venue in the field. This year, the acceptance rate for full papers was 11%, out of more than 150 submissions.
The paper is partly based on the results of the TRITon project and shows how, by using existing techniques never before applied to a real deployment, the lifetime of a wireless sensor network can be tripled.
